Assistant/Associate Professor in Veterinary Dermatology (1.0 FTE)


Job description

The candidate will play a leading role in the future development of the dermatology of the Utrecht University Animal Hospital. Additional responsibilities will be determined in accordance with the academic priorities and the candidate’s areas of expertise within the specialty of veterinary dermatology. Contributions by independent and/or collaborative research are encouraged. Interaction with colleagues across the range of specialist disciplines will give you further support and stimulation to develop your interests and ambitions.

The primary tasks of the candidate are:

  • to provide excellent veterinary care in the area of dermatology together with other services of the Utrecht University Animal Hospital;
  • to provide educational activities for both Bachelor and Master students;
  • to provide clinical instructions for master students;
  • to train and supervise residents in dermatology (ECVD);
  • to develop strong relationships with referring veterinarians and clients;
  • to foster collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to case management;
  • to develop and increase the veterinary dermatology caseload;
  • to contribute to collaborative research.

Qualifications
You are interested in working in an academic environment and contributing to the services of our academic veterinary teaching hospital and clinical teaching and didactic instruction of veterinary students. You are willing to learn Dutch (for which we will provide). A board certification in the ACVD or the ECVD is preferred, but candidates who have completed an approved residency will be considered.

Offer

We offer a fulltime job for the period of two years, with the possibility of extension in case of satisfactory performance. The salary for an assistant professor is between €3.475,- and €5.405,- (scale 11/12 of the Collective Labour Agreement of the Dutch Universities) gross per month for a fulltime appointment depending on education and experience. The salary for associate professor is between €4.815,- and €5.861,- (scale 13 of the Collective Labour Agreement of the Dutch Universities) gross per month for a fulltime appointment depending on academic credentials and experience. There are career development opportunities within the assistant professorship and the opportunity to become associate professor.
