Associate / Full professor: Quantum chemical modelling

Contribute to a sustainability research program that models hybrid organic/inorganic interfaces on the nanoscale.

  • The Debye Institute for Nanomaterials Science tackles sustainability through research into catalysis, nanostructures and colloids, and nanophotonics.

Working within the Debye Institute for Nanomaterials Science you will be involved in understanding the atomic structure of semiconductor- and metallic nanocrystals with emphasis on the semiconductor/molecular ligand interface or hetero-epitaxial crystalline interface. This has the potential to yield valuable sustainability benefits for opto-electronic applications such as LEDs, miniaturized lasers, photo-detectors and solar cells. You will fulfill your personal development goals while adding to our reputation of scientific excellence. Your background and the position

You have a PhD in theoretical aspects of nanoscience and hybrid materials, an excellent track record, and the experience necessary to take your place as a group leader within an international research and education environment. Your own research interests are found within the broad field of quantum chemical modelling. Combining scientific excellence with an open-minded and collaborative mindset in research and teaching, you contribute enthusiastically to the acquisition and execution of externally funded projects. As such, it is important that you are able to act as an outward looking ambassador for Utrecht University, communicating your knowledge to the next generation and across networks.
