Get on top of your PhD process is a PhD group-coaching course where we share experiences, introduce hands-on tools, set realistic goals and make individual work strategies to reach these goals.
Doing a PhD is not always easy. You may feel lonely, have fallen behind your PhD plan, lost your good working routines or have problems getting writing done? We take an outset in your current situation and help you develop effective personal strategies and practices.
Target group:
PhD students who are at least half a year into their PhD and who feel in need of a boost of energy to refocus and establish a sustainable, daily work practice and get on top of the PhD process.
Content:
At each session you will set a work-goal for the following week(s). You will have time to reflect on your own work practice and the changes you want to make in your worklife. Sharing experiences and learning from each other is an important part of the course. The course format combines discussions in smaller groups with plenary sessions on:
- Realistic goalsetting, patterns and beliefs – how to set realistic work-goals and identify patterns and beliefs that prevent your progress
- Collaboration – learn how to get the best out of your supervision and other work relationships
- Writing – learn how to overcome writing blocks, write efficiently, control your inner critic and maybe even enjoy writing
- Deep work – learn how to become focused and more efficient in a distracted world
- Sustain your progress – make a plan for sustaining your progress and establish a support network
Structure of the sessions:
- Follow up on last week’s goals, and group coaching with outset in participants’ challenges
- Theme of the day workshop: presentation, exercise and discussions
- Goalsetting for the coming week
