A half-day seminar led by Professor Alan Irwin
In this half-day seminar Prof. Irwin will especially consider issues of what Andrew Pettigrew has termed 'double hurdle' research (i.e. work which is excellent in terms of quality but also highly relevant in social and business terms). How is it possible to combine excellence with relevance - and how in practice do we define each of these terms?
Alan Irwin is Professor at CBS but also a Science and Technology Studies (STS) scholar who has published on issues of public engagement with science, research governance and public policy-making over risk.
